Jolie Carreon and Steven Sera Present Updates on Latest Breakthroughs in zur Nieden Lab

Jolie and Steven presented their latest work at today as part of the annual Inland Empire Stem Cell Consortium Winter Seminar series. The Inland Empire Stem Cell Consortium Winter Seminar series showcases the latest work by Consortium trainees actively studying regenerative medicine or stem cell models of development and/or disease.

Jolie presented an update on our tobacco research project, and the most recent mechanistic connections we've made between early tobacco exposure and adverse bone development. Steven introduced the audience to the wonderful world of developmentally-critical microRNAs and discussed his most recent work exploring the role of miR-361 and it's involvement in osteogenesis.
